Snoring interrupts ICANN meeting (MP3)
Kevin Murphy,

Domain Policy
An ICANN meeting was interrupted yesterday by loud snoring.
I suppose it was only a matter of time.
The incident happened during a teleconference of the Supporting Organization-Advisory Committee New gTLD Applicant Support Working Group chaired by Rafik Dammak and Carlton Samuels.
Dammak is the one who sounds baffled by the sudden interruption, Samuels is the one with the incredible laugh.
Apologies to the participants, but this two-minute MP3 snippet is too gigglesome not to post.

Well as the active person on the JAS-WG who was wearing the Obviously Excellent headset/mic set (plantronics if your interested) but which was not muted *sorry* so it picked up my husbands normal nocturnal apnea ‘soundtrack to my after hours life, I’m so pleased that it afforded you a few giggles I always try and fund a smile in what we do *yes even at ICANN* and there is much material for use when I’m around so do keep tuned in 😉 but I’m delighted that such attention is paid to the recordings and transcripts of this important WG…
Rest assured however (I won’t be as I will do future midnight and later calls from the LACK of comfort and warmth of another room) this sort interruption / disruption to our work will not be bothersome to any one (other than me) in the future… Night All!
good stuff. . .what’s the story about the snake?
Your guess is as good as mine mate.
ICANN IS VERY INTERESTING!
Title to this article is misleading. Cheryl’s comment above sheds light on the situation, but I want to offer my two cents of understanding too.
The Earth is round….24 time zones and don’t forget 2 hemispheres / that means alternate seasons going on at any time! Your time on an ICANN conference call is just the luck of the draw since callers span the globe in a single meeting!
Cheryl, I don’t blame you a bit for staying warm and cozy on an ICANN call even with your epic quality mic….I know it’s winter this time of year down under and cold in the middle of the night!
Praises to all ICANN Volunteers….and those who live with ICANN Volunteers! It’s good work you all do, and appreciated, carry on! Cute story!
..just goes to show the labours some put into this….and as Annalisa reminds us, as volunteers.
Cheryl, this is very funny! I notice you have an Aussie accent so I guess, like me, you are attending late night calls that suit other timezones. My office is in my bedroom and I too have sat in TCs when my husband is snoring! Just wait until it is standard practice for all our TCs to be via Video, then they will see him too! Ha Ha – thanks for making me laugh today!
