Eight more new gTLD contracts signed, six by Donuts
Kevin Murphy,
September 14, 2013, 15:07:33 (UTC),
Domain Registries
ICANN has brought up its number of contracted new gTLDs to 32 with the signing of eight new Registry Agreements yesterday.
Six belong to Donuts:: .graphics, .technology, .reviews, .gallery, .guide and .construction.
Two IDN registries have also signed contracts: .æˆ‘çˆ±ä½ (Tycoon Treasure), which means “I love you” in Chinese, and .集团 (Eagle Horizon), which means “group” or “conglomerate” in Chinese.
The prioritization numbers for the 32 newly contracted application ranges from eight to 496. Almost all of the non-ASCII strings with contracts to date belong to Donuts.
Donuts is going to come screaming out of the box.
They’ll delegate well in front of their priority draw numbers.
Lots of new/free traffic for the .com version of every new extension including the idn’s imo!!!
Kevin,
I would be grateful — everyone would be grateful — if you could compare these 32 contracts to the number that were expected to be signed at 20 per week, which is what ICANN told everyone. A quick calculation of how far they are behind schedule, and when they could expected to be finished, would also be great.
It’s nice that they’re signing contracts. It’s appalling that they are so far behind, and (to me) that is the story.
Antony
Oops I guess I outed myself as the person who left an pseudonymous comment about .music in another of Kevin’s posts… Oh well…
I like 集团. It seems like æˆ‘çˆ±ä½ will have limited appeal.
