Google beats Microsoft to .docs

Kevin Murphy, July 30, 2014, 10:39:54 (UTC), Domain Registries

Google and Microsoft seem to have settled their contention set for the .docs new gTLD, with Google emerging the victor.
Microsoft withdrew its application for .docs this week.
It’s not clear how the deal was made, but Google is known to have participated in private auctions for other strings.
Google Docs is of course Google’s office document service.
Microsoft also has a Docs service, a collaboration with Facebook at Docs.com, but it seems to have been in beta since April 2010 and, by the looks of the site, isn’t what you’d call a success.

  1. Dr Cole says:

I recently tried to purchase a “.CO” domain with “Shop.WhoIs.com” as was offered the domain at “$12.98”.
I then tried to complete the purchase but it would not process the CC, so I notified WhoIs about the problem with their CC processing.

They then said THIS WAS A MISTAKE AND RAISED THE PRICE TO $245… For the Very Same Domain…!!!

This appears to be the “BAIT AND SWITCH” tactics and per the FTC are ILLEGAL!!!

I tried to explain and reconcile with them, but no dice… They Admitted Their Error, but Refused To Sell At Their Original Listed Price of $12.98, and Instead Wanted $245… 1,800 % Increase in Price!!!

Has Anyone Else Had This “Bait and Switch” Tactic Pulled On Them From WhoIs.com?

Aren’t They Obligated to Sell the Domains at the Listed Prices???

    How Is This Legal?

Should I Report Them to the FTC for FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AND ILLEGAL “BAIT AND SWITCH” TACTICS?

    Please Respond
